Karolinska University Hospital is well known entities when it comes to both research in the field of ischemic stroke as well as clinical treatment in this field. Karolinska University Hospital is one of the first hospitals to implement the intra-arterial therapy as a standard approach in stroke patients since 2005 with more than 1000 stroke treatments. Karolinska University Hospital is also a guardian for the national quality registry for endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke, EVAS-registry. Within the Karolinska University Hospital, many courses on ischemic strokes have been held over the past years and are still ongoing. These courses focus on the use of specific devices in the treatment and are industry sponsored. Furthermore, there is ongoing research in this field.
